Goldey-Beacom got off to a great start by taking the three doubles contests, but dropped all six singles rubbers and was dealt its first setback of the spring with a 6-3 loss at 36th-ranked Indiana (PA).

Junior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) and freshman Merel Ann van Zanten (Velserbroek, Netherlands) got things rolling with a 9-8 (9-5) win at first doubles over Jarka Petercakova and Luise von Agris.  Juniors Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) and Pauline Rozet (Malakoff, France) recorded an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles over Rachel Wood and Raquel Gonzalez before junior Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) and freshman Manuela Cornejo (Waldbronn, Germany) amassed a 9-8 (9-5) win vs. Sophie Butland and Alanna McFail.

But the good times would not last for the Lightning (7-5), who fell to 2-1 in the spring with all of the singles matches ending in straight sets vs. the Crimson Hawks (11-0).  Among the most competitive rubbers included Rozet falling 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to Butland at fourth singles and Mrad dropping a 7-5, 6-3 contest at No. 2 singles to Gonzalez.

Goldey-Beacom is off until next Saturday, when it plays in the Bloomsburg Duals.  It will face the host at 10:00 am and Chestnut Hill at 2:30 pm.
