Women’s Tennis Posts 6-3 Victory Over West Chester

Goldey-Beacom opened with two doubles victories and then got four singles triumphs in a 6-3 win over West Chester at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
Juniors Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) and Pauline Rozet (Malakoff, France) notched an 8-4 victory over Rylee Power and Alyssa Rees at second doubles with junior Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) and freshman Manuela Cornejo (Waldbronn, Germany) recording an 8-2 triumph vs. Abriana Nolan and Amalia Hartman for the Golden Rams (7-4) at No. 3 doubles.
 
For Mrad, it was her 22nd career doubles win and that puts her in a tie for 10th place in school history for the Lightning (7-4).
 
Freshman Merel Ann van Zanten (Velserbroek, Netherlands) continued her impressive play by getting her sixth straight win, moving to 14-2 at singles this season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles over Rees.  Junior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) recorded a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) win at third singles over Power, Rozet got a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles over Nolan and Cornejo amassed a 6-4, 6-3 win at sixth singles vs. Stephanie Cifarelli.
 
Goldey-Beacom returns to the court April 1 at Indiana (PA), starting at 4:00 pm.
