(results)

Goldey-Beacom won all contested rubbers against Shippensburg and dropped only three games for a 7-2 victory in Shippensburg, PA and the program's 100th win.

Injuries forced the Lightning (6-4) into a pair of forfeited rubbers, but that was their only worry in the unit's first dual match of the spring.

Junior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) and freshman Merel Ann van Zanten (Velserbroek, Netherlands), the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year, cruised to an 8-1 win at first doubles over Brittnee Buckley and Emilie Luttman.  Juniors Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) and Pauline Rozet (Malakoff, France) then rolled to an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles vs. McKensi Washabaugh and Emily Cox for Shippensburg (1-5).

Junior Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) got a 6-0, 6-2 win at first singles vs. Buckley and Mrad cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles over Gabbie Binder.  Sengl posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles vs. Washabaugh, Rozet won by the same score at fourth singles over Cox, as did van Zanten at No. 5 singles vs. Hannah Coath.

Mrad's singles win is her 23rd career – one off of 10th place in school history – and the same can be said for her 21st doubles triumph.  Van Zanten now is 13-2 in singles this season with her fifth straight win.

Goldey-Beacom now is 100-69 in its 11-year history and 10th-year coach Joe Kissel is responsible for all the victories.  The squad last year won an NCAA Tournament match for the first such head-to-head victory in College history by any team, closed 31st in the country and set the school record with 18 wins.  Last fall, the Lightning played in the CACC Tournament an eighth straight season.

Goldey-Beacom is home Tuesday against West Chester, starting at 3:30 pm.
