(2015-16 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom, coming off a winning record in the fall that included another trip to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament, has announced its schedule for the 2016 spring season.

The squad plays the first of its eight ties March 18 at Shippensburg before its only home tie March 22 vs. West Chester at the Delcastle Tennis Center.  GBC the following week makes the long trip to western Pennsylvania for an encounter April 1 with Indiana (PA).

The Lightning make their annual visit to the Bloomsburg Duals the following week, beginning April 9 against the host.  GBC later that afternoon battles CACC rival Chestnut Hill before concluding things the next day against Kutztown.

GBC then visits the District of Columbia on April 14 and Queens (NY) three days later.

The Lightning (5-4, 4-3 CACC) are coming off another stellar fall in which they played in the conference semifinals an eighth straight year.  The season was highlighted with Merel Ann van Zanten (Velserbroek, Netherlands) being named the league's Rookie of the Year and junior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) earning the sport's Top XV Award, given "to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the CACC championships."

Van Zanten went 12-2 in singles, which included a berth in the ITA East Regional "B" flight singles final.  Freshman Manuela Cornejo (Waldbronn, Germany) went 7-2 in singles and junior Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) teamed with four different partners to go 7-4 in doubles.

Tenth-year coach Joe Kissel was rewarded for his outstanding 2015 in being named the United States Tennis Association Delaware District College Coach of the Year.  This honor came largely due to GBC closing the 2014-15 season 31st in the country and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  He has guided the Lightning to all 99 victories in program history.
