Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Dealt 76-49 Loss at USciences

Goldey-Beacom ran into a scoring buzzsaw in the first half and it only got worse in the second half for a 76-49 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

USciences raced to a 38-23 halftime lead by shooting 47 percent (14-of-30) from the floor and holding GBC to just 32 percent (8-of-32).  Will Gregorits scored 13 points for the Devils on 6-of-10 shooting and Sho Da-Silva added 10.

The Devils kept their foot on the accelerator in the second half, opening things on a 25-11 run to grab a 63-34 cushion with 8:45 remaining.  Gregorits and Wes Kerr scored eight points apiece in that time.

The injury-depleted Lightning dressed only eight healthy bodies tonight and some were forced to see extended minutes.  Junior Shakeem Wilson (Brooklyn, NY) finished with 10 points, freshman Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) poured in nine with juniors Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (New Castle, DE) and Sameen Swint (Sicklerville, NJ) getting eight apiece.

Gregorits scored 23 points, Da-Silva had 14 and 11 rebounds with Kerr getting 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Devils (15-10, 12-6 CACC), who shot 48 percent (29-of-60) from the field.

Goldey-Beacom (8-18, 6-11) remains two games behind Chestnut Hill (8-9) for the fourth and final conference tournament spot from the South Division with only two games remaining.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday plays its home finale of the 2015-16 season against Wilmington (DE), starting at 3:00 pm.
