Men’s Basketball Rolls to 95-84 Win at Millersville

Goldey-Beacom lowered the curtain on 2016 in resounding fashion with a 95-84 victory at Millersville in Millersville, PA.

In the teams' second encounter this season, the Lightning went on a 17-7 run in just under four minutes to open a 63-50 lead with 13:56 remaining.  Seniors Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (New Castle, DE) and Riyan Williams (Dunkirk, MD) netted five points apiece in that span for Goldey-Beacom, which shot 7-of-8 from the floor with a pair of 3-pointers.

The margin eventually reached 94-77 with 1:54 left and the Lightning (8-3) were well on their way to their seventh victory in the last eight contests.

Goldey-Beacom saw six of its players reach double figures with junior Dante Thompson (Coram, NY) leading the way by scoring 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting to go with eight rebounds.  Senior Shakeem Wilson (Brooklyn, NY) and sophomore Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) netted 16 points apiece, Williams netted 13 points, Ridgeway-Higgs scored 12 and senior Khalil Keel (Philadelphia, PA) added 11.

Millersville in the first meeting, a 74-69 GBC triumph November 13, saw all five starters score in double figures.  Today, only Marcus Adkison reached that in netting 18 points.  Jordan Greene scored 15 points and Markeith Mont added 10 for the Marauders (5-5).

Both squads enjoyed an exceptional shooting day with Goldey-Beacom hitting 58 percent (35-of-60) from the floor and Millersville going for 52 percent (32-of-62).

Goldey-Beacom is home Wednesday against Caldwell as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's game starts at 8:00 pm, which follows by the women's 6:00 pm contest.
