Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Tops Georgian Court for 250th Victory

Goldey-Beacom pulled away from Georgian Court in the second half and notched the program's 250th victory in the modern era with a 69-57 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning found themselves in a battle with the pesky Lions before scoring 15 straight points bridging the third and fourth periods, grabbing a 59-34 lead in the opening minute of the fourth.  Junior Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) continued to do her thing with eight points in that span and sophomore Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA) added four for GBC, which shot 6-of-11 from the floor in that time.

Bruno netted 12 points in the half to help the Lightning take control and junior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) added six, giving the squad their 22nd consecutive victory over the Lions.

Bruno finished with 28 points to close two shy of her personal best and Bryson netted 12 for the Lightning (2-5, 2-1 CACC), who shot 36 percent (26-of-73) from the floor.  Bryson now is at 760 career points to move into 12th place in school history and Bruno now is fifth with 131 career steals.

Alliyah Berger netted 24 points with Destiny Thompson adding 12 and 10 rebounds for Georgian Court (2-5, 0-3), which shot 39 percent (24-of-62) from the field but was just 4-of-14 from three-point range.

This is the 17th season in the modern era for Goldey-Beacom women's basketball as the program was resurrected for the 2000-01 campaign.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Saturday at Holy Family as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  The women's game starts at 1:00 pm, which precedes the men's 3:00 pm contest.
