Women’s Basketball Dealt 63-42 Loss at Bowie State



Goldey-Beacom hung around with Bowie State for most of the contest, but in the end was handed a 63-42 loss in Bowie, MD.
 
Bowie State's lead was double figures most of the way, but GBC played tough throughout and only was down 44-34 with 1:49 left in the third quarter.  Junior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) went on a tear in the third quarter with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and got the Lightning within the aforementioned score on a layup.
 
But the Lady Bulldogs scored the next 12 points over three minutes to gain a 56-34 lead with 8:39 remaining.  Kiara Colston netted eight points in that span for Bowie State, helping her squad shoot 5-of-6 from the field.
 
Bryson closed with 16 points and 15 rebounds, both season highs, for her second double-double of the campaign.  Junior Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) added 11 points for the Lightning (1-5), who shot 29 percent (16-of-56) from the field.
 
Colston poured in 16 points, Ashley Jennings had 12 and 13 rebounds, Kyah Proctor netted 12 points and Pere Alexander added 10 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs (4-2), who shot 36 percent (25-of-69) from the floor.
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Wednesday against Georgian Court as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  The women's game starts at 6:00 pm, which precedes the men's 8:00 pm contest.
