Goldey-Beacom's incredible fall continued by clinching the top seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament for the first time in team history with a 7-2 victory over Post at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning's 6-0 start in the league equals their school record from 2010 and 2012.  The 6-0 overall start is their best since opening 8-0 in 2010-11.

GBC in the conference tournament will play in the first semifinal on Saturday, October 22 at 10:00 am against the winner of the first-round match between the fourth and fifth seeds.  The competition at Chestnut Hill College will be the Lightning's ninth straight trip to the CACC Tournament.

Seniors Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) and Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) moved to 6-0 this season with an 8-5 win at first doubles over Liza Dubrovskaya and Brianna Miah.  Freshmen Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain) and Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) rolled to an 8-0 victory at third doubles vs. Jessica Bergen and Sarah Namazi for the Eagles (7-3, 5-1 CACC).

Beg cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles over Madison Young and Garcia Valle notched a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles vs. Miah.  Sengl had no trouble with Natasha Siku in a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at fourth singles and freshman Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) notched a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles over Bergen.

Sophomore Manuela Cornejo (Waldbronn, Germany) got the Lightning's final point with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at sixth singles over Namazi.

Sengl's double's win was her 39th career, moving her into sole possession of fourth place in school history.  Her 37th singles triumph put her in a tie for fifth with Blanca Sancho (2009-13).

Goldey-Beacom closes CACC regular-season play next Thursday at Holy Family, starting at 3:30 pm in Philadelphia.
