The temperature might have gotten cooler, but Goldey-Beacom remained scorching hot as its undefeated record stayed that way with a 9-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Chestnut Hill at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

The doubles session was just the appetizer with GBC grabbing all three rubbers.  Seniors Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) and Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) notched an 8-2 win over Louise Charley and Hannah Murphy at first doubles, freshman Lea Schmuecker (Marburg, Germany) and junior Raquel Morais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) got an 8-3 victory vs. Laure-Anne Josso and Daniela Siqueira at No. 2 doubles with freshmen Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain) and Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) recorded an 8-1 victory over Nicole Yang and Madison Jacobus at third doubles.

Josso had won all five of her dual singles matches entering today, but Schmuecker had none of that with a 6-1, 6-2 win at first singles.  Freshman Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles over Charley and Beg battled to a 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (12-10) win at third singles over Murphy.

Garcia Valle had no trouble with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles over Julia Bellon, Sengl recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles vs. Siqueira and Silvia Hortelano Pey got a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at sixth singles over Yang for the Griffins (0-6, 0-6).

Sengl's double win was her 37th career, moving her into a tie for fifth place in school history with Blanca Sancho (2009-13).

By virtue of winning tiebreakers over Philadelphia U. and Caldwell, GBC clinched its ninth straight trip to the CACC Tournament.  It is the longest streak of any team in school history.  The Lightning (4-0, 4-0 CACC) are tied in winning percentage with Post (5-0) atop the league and can finish no worse than fourth in the standings.

GBC is 4-0 overall for the fourth time in five seasons and 4-0 in the league for the first time since opening 6-0 in 2012.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Thursday for a rescheduled match against University of the Sciences, beginning at 2:30 pm in Philadelphia.
