Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls, 3-0, to Caldwell

Goldey-Beacom did its best to stay in the match against a very competitive Caldwell side, but was breached for three second-half goals in a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning kept the game level going into halftime thanks to five saves from senior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX), who on Wednesday became the school's career leader with her 15th shutout.

But persistence paid off for the Cougars in the 63rd minute for the only marker they would need.  Gianna Klucker rebounded a shot from Meghan Grundhauser and put it inside the top right corner for her fifth goal of the year.

Jessica LaConde in the 76th minute gave the Cougars a 2-0 cushion.  She received a cross from Carlyn Salus and launched her shot inside the top left corner for her third tally of the year.

Emily Valerian capped the scoring in the 86th minute, receiving a perfect pass from Shelagh Kerrisk and finding the inside left post for her eighth goal of the season.

Kerrisk, LaConde and Valerian all had four shots for Caldwell (8-6-1, 7-2 CACC), which owned a 22-3 shots edge that included 12-1 in shots on goal.

Aguirre continued her stellar play with nine saves.

Goldey-Beacom (9-4-1, 5-3-1) is tied for sixth place with Philadelphia U. in the CACC with the top eight teams making the conference tournament.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Tuesday to visit Holy Family for a 3:30 pm match in Philadelphia.
