(box score)

Freshman Pauline Rozet (Malakoff, France) won an exciting singles match for Goldey-Beacom, but unfortunately it was the squad's only point during an 8-1 loss to Concordia (NY) in Wilmington, DE in a re-match of last year's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference final.

Rozet rallied from a set down against Stefanie Canals-Bake to take the second set, 6-3, and force a tiebreak that is a race to 10.  That race at No. 4 singles went beyond that as Rozet fought off several match points and won it 15-13 to move to 4-2 this season.

Freshman Manuela Cornejo (Waldbronn, Germany) also forced a tiebreak for the Lightning (2-2, 1-2 CACC) at No. 6 singles, but was handed a 10-7 loss by Kaja Tegtmeier.

Costanza Mecchi, Linda Eliasson, Huai-Hsuan Huang and Antonia Conze all notched straight-set victories for the defending league-champion Clippers (2-0, 2-0).

Goldey-Beacom is on the road next Wednesday at Chestnut Hill, starting at 4:00 pm.  The Lightning won all three meetings from the Griffins last season, including in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
