Goldey-Beacom's volleyball squad has announced is 2015 schedule that features two tournaments and 14 home matches over 13 dates.

The Lightning's first tournament is the season opener as the squad plays in Ramfest at West Chester University.  GBC faces Bowie State on September 4 before battling West Chester and Ursuline the next day.

The second tournament is a tri-match September 12, also the home opener, against Cheyney and Mercy.

GBC opens play in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference on September 17 at Chestnut Hill, one of 19 league matches.  The squad then has the pleasure of traveling to Waterbury, CT two days later to battle reigning league champion Post.

A five-match homestand begins September 23 vs. Holy Family and ends during Homecoming Weekend on October 3 against Dominican (NY).  The regular season concludes November 14 with a short trip to Wilmington (DE).

The top four teams in each of the two divisions compete in the CACC Tournament, which begins November 17.  The semifinals and final take place later that week in Lakewood, NJ.

A major reason for optimism this season is the return of senior Danielle Cipolletti (Scottsdale, AZ), who last season had 946 assists for the second-best single-season total in school history and closed 109th in the country with 8.92 assists.  She only is 54 assists from becoming the fifth player in school history to reach 1,000 for her career.

Junior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) had a solid campaign at outside hitter, ending 22nd in the CACC with 2.36 kills per set.  She comes into the season needing just 63 kills to reach the school's career top-10 list.

Goldey-Beacom needs only 11 victories to reach 250 in school history.

The Lightning will have a new look on the sidelines with Sara Scheirman taking over as head coach.  Scheirman served the last two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Temple and played four years at Duquesne, earning second team All-Atlantic 10 Conference honors in 2010.
