Goldey-Beacom's dream of attaining that elusive first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title will begin with the team chosen to end second in the league based on a vote of the coaches.

GBC (18-5, 7-1 CACC) last season had an historic campaign on many levels.  The paramount of the campaign was the team's 5-3 win over Chestnut Hill in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, marking the first head-to-head NCAA Tournament victory for the College in any sport.

The squad broke the school record for most wins, tied the school record with 10 shutouts, set a new team mark with four consecutive shutouts, ended the season ranked 31st in the country, played in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last six years and competed in the CACC final a fourth time in the last six years.

Junior Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) had a standout campaign, tying the school record with 15 doubles wins and posting a 17-2 singles record that is tied for the second-most victories in school history.  She is just outside the school's top-10 in both categories.

Junior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) also returns following her amazing performance last season, amassing 14 doubles wins that are tied for fourth best in school history.  She is sixth in school history with 25 doubles victories and tied for 10th with 22 singles wins.

The Lightning also are six victories shy of reaching 100 for their career.

Concordia (NY), the six-time defending league champion, unanimously was picked to win the conference.

Goldey-Beacom opens the season September 11 at CACC-foe Post.
