Softball Sweeps a Pair from Lincoln (PA)

Goldey-Beacom recorded its 500th victory in program history and its first doubleheader sweep of the campaign, thoroughly dominating Lincoln (PA) for victories of 22-1 and 13-0 at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.

Freshman Kylie Doyle (Tower City, PA) went on a tear in game one, getting a team-season-high six RBI to go with a game-high three hits.  She closed with two doubles and a triple as part of the Lightning's 15-hit attack and the 500th win since the program's re-instatement in 1991.

Freshman Jordan Donovan (Wilmington, DE), making only her second start of the season, batted 3-for-3 and added three RBI.  Freshman Courtney Allin (Bear, DE) drove home three runs for GBC, which scored nine runs in the first inning and seven in the second.

Dingmans Ferry, PA freshman Natalie Mickles (1-10) struck out nine for her first collegiate victory, yielding just one run and two hits over five innings.  She also tripled for her first career extra-base hit.

Ashley Juma permitted 22 runs – 17 earned – and 15 hits over four innings for the Lady Lions (0-20).

Game two also was no contest as the Lightning (3-16-1) put away things with seven runs in the last of the fourth inning.  Ashleigh Cavanaugh (Newark, DE) lined a two-run single, fellow freshman Marie Goodman (Willingboro, NJ) crushed a two-run double to deep left field and sophomore Ryann Farley (Barnegat, NJ) lined an inside-the-park home run for her first career long ball.

Bethlehem, PA freshman Kelsey Brandle (1-0) was more than impressive in her first start as a pitcher, striking out eight over five innings and tossing a three-hit shutout in facing just five batters above the minimum.  She also batted 3-for-3 to extend her hitting streak to six games.

Cavanaugh had three RBI as she, Goodman and senior Asia Ellis (Marlton, NJ) all had two hits.

Juma (0-8) gave up 13 runs – 12 earned – and 12 hits over four innings.

Goldey-Beacom hits the road Thursday to visit Mercy for a 2:30 pm doubleheader in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
