No. 37 Women’s Tennis Breaks School Record for Victories in 8-1 Win Over the District of Columbia

No. 37 Goldey-Beacom received a battle from the District of Columbia, but broke the school record for most victories in a season with an 8-1 triumph at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
Freshman Laura Moreno (Murcia, Spain) notched a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Maxime Duijst at No. 1 singles and senior Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Laura Diamante at third singles.  Freshman Julia Gutierrez (Quart, Spain) made it six straight wins in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Alicia Gallard at the four spot and sophomore Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win vs. Laura Rojas at fifth singles.
 
Moreno and Gutierrez notched an 8-1 victory at first doubles over Duijst and Diamante with Puentes Robinson and Mrad recording an 8-5 triumph at second doubles vs. Gallard and Mona Looareesuwan.  The points at sixth singles and third doubles were forfeited to Goldey-Beacom by UDC (7-9).

GBC (15-4) broke the record of 14 victories set two seasons ago.
 
Goldey-Beacom returns to action Wednesday at Shippensburg for a 4:00 pm.
