No. 37 Goldey-Beacom closed its regular season in emphatic style and tied a school record with 5-0 victories over both Bloomsburg and Slippery Rock in Bloomsburg, PA.

Goldey-Beacom (17-4) began things against Bloomsburg with three victories in doubles.  Freshmen Laura Moreno (Murcia, Spain) and Julia Gutierrez (Quart, Spain) rolled to an 8-1 win over Aida Diop and Caitlyn Flynn at first doubles, senior Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) and sophomore Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) notched an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles over Erin Reitenauer and Catherine Garrity with sophomores Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) and Raquel Morais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) getting an 8-2 win at third doubles vs. Lindsey Tennis and Iliana Anapolsky.

The Lightning then took two singles matches before the remaining four were halted.  Gutierrez got a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Tennis at third singles and Mrad posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory vs. Garrity at No. 4 singles.

The match against Slippery Rock was more of the same.  Moreno and Gutierrez got an 8-3 win over Carla Corrochano Moracho and Nina Barbano, Puentes Robinson and Mrad posted an 8-4 triumph vs. Stephanie Fortier and Kylee Woodman with senior Filipa Correia (Monte Estoril, Portugal) and sophomore Maria Victoria (Totana, Spain) notching an 8-5 victory over Ana Petrovic and Emily Munson.

Just like in the first match, the Lightning got two victories in singles before the tie was ended.  Gutierrez recorded a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 4 singles over Fortier with Correia getting a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Munson at fifth singles.

The two shutouts gives GBC 10 on the season, tying it with the 2012-13 squad for the most in school history.

Goldey-Beacom, which is ranked fourth in the NCAA East Region Rankings, now will wait to see if it will compete in the association's East Region Championship for a fifth time in the last six years.  The announcement will be made later this month.
