A match-up of two-ranked teams did not go the way of 37th-ranked Goldey-Beacom, which was dealt a 5-4 setback by No. 33 Queens (NY) in Flushing, NY.

The Lightning started with a 2-1 lead following the doubles.  Freshmen Laura Moreno (Murcia, Spain) and Julia Gutierrez (Quart, Spain) notched an 8-4 triumph at first doubles over Sumeera Kamil and Aylin Mehter with senior Filipa Correia (Monte Estoril, Portugal) and sophomore Maria Victoria (Totana, Spain) recording an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles vs. Cami Abdallah and Angelika Sobiecka.

GBC (13-4) then took two of the singles points.  Senior Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) posted a 7-5, 6-2 win at third singles over Kamil with Gutierrez getting a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) triumph at No. 4 singles vs. Andrea Samson from Queens (13-2).

This was a re-match of a first-round tussle in each of the last two NCAA Regionals.
