Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bryson and Bruno Pace Women’s Basketball to Win Over Georgian Court

Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) had 19 points and a career-best 21 rebounds with fellow sophomore Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) falling three rebounds shy of a triple-double for Goldey-Beacom, which pulled away in the second half for an 82-63 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Georgian Court in Wilmington, DE.

GBC held a 14-point lead late in the first half and Georgian Court came back to take the lead.  The latter had a 51-50 cushion with 5:26 left in the third quarter before the Lightning went on a 16-4 run in roughly seven minutes for a 66-55 lead with 7:09 remaining.  Sophomore Mikila Stefanski (Hammonton, NJ) opened the burst with a 3-pointer to give GBC the lead for good and Bryson scored four points in that span.

The Lightning took command in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Lions, 22-8, shooting 47 percent (10-of-21) from the floor and owning a 17-8 rebounding edge with nine offensive boards.  Bryson could not be stopped in the quarter with eight points and six rebounds.

Bryson made the second half her personal showcase with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 13 rebounds, helping GBC shoot 43 percent (16-of-37) from the field and limiting Georgian Court to only 37 percent (11-of-30).  Bruno scored nine points in the half and freshman Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA), also a women's soccer standout who on Friday was presented the department's Brian Conley Award for her courage, perseverance and determination, added six.

Bryson overall shot 9-of-16 from the floor in posting her third double-double of the season and 10th career.  She also had a block to give her 49 career, ninth best in team history.

Bruno notched her first double-double of the season with 16 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.  She becomes the eighth player in school history to record at least 200 assists, sitting at 203.  Bruno also has 88 three-pointers, which keeps her in seventh place in team annals.

Stefanski scored a career-high 18 points, all on a personal-best six 3-pointers that included 12 points in the first half.  Turner-Rush netted 12 points, two shy of her career best for the Lightning (2-9, 2-3 CACC), who recorded their 20th straight victory over the Lions and moved to 14-0 against them in Pike Creek.

Destiny Thompson had 21 points and nine rebounds, Alliyah Berger netted 17 points and Jaelyn Tweedy had 11 for the Lions (1-9, 1-5).
