Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

First-Half Surge Keys Men’s Basketball to 85-51 Rout of Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom led by as many as 28 points in the first half and went on cruise control the rest of the way in an 85-51 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference pounding of Georgian Court at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The first half was the difference as the Lightning owned a 39-11 lead with 4:58 left and went into the locker room ahead, 44-19.  Freshman Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) scored 10 points in the half, Shakeem Wilson (Brooklyn, NY) had nine and fellow junior Elijah Tillman (Garnerville, NY) added seven and seven rebounds for GBC, which shot 51 percent (18-of-35) from the floor and held Georgian Court to only 26 percent (6-of-23).

GBC held steady the rest of the way and eventually led by 36 points, shooting 48 percent (31-of-64) overall from the floor and limiting Georgian Court to only 34 percent (18-of-53).  The Lightning (3-7, 2-2 CACC) only committed a season-low four turnovers and improved to 5-0 all-time vs. the Lions.

Junior Sameen Swint (Sicklerville, NJ) ended with 18 points, one shy of a season-best, on 6-of-10 shooting with four 3-pointers.  Wilson scored 17 points to give him a team-best 17.5 points per game this season and Taite added 14 points.  Tillman had nine points, seven rebounds and two blocks to give him 16 blocks this season, amazingly only 10 shy of the school's top 10 list.

Christopher Austin scored 15 points and Michael Pierre added nine for Georgian Court (2-8, 1-5), which only hit 3-of-17 from beyond the arc.

Goldey-Beacom is home Tuesday for a CACC contest against University of the Sciences, beginning at 8:00 pm.
