Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls, 65-57, to University of the Sciences

Goldey-Beacom tried its best to forge a tie with University of the Sciences for third place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division, but the latter handed the former a 65-57 loss at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Devils showed great athleticism throughout, using a 16-2 run bridging both halves to grab a 34-21 lead one minute into the second half.  Sho Da-Silva scored six points in that span to help USciences shoot 6-of-13 from the floor.

The Devils also got it done on the defensive end, holding the Lightning to no field goals and only three points over 12 minutes, 26 seconds.  That same defense limited GBC to just 33 percent shooting (8-of-24) in the first half and 2-of-11 from 3-point range.

Sho Da-Silva scored 22 points on 9-of-18 shooting with seven rebounds, Will Gregorits netted 12 points, Flo Da-Silva had 11 and seven rebounds with Wes Kerr contributing 11 and six for USciences (6-4, 4-1 CACC), which sits second in the division.

Junior Elijah Tillman (Garnerville, NJ), named this week to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, had 11 points and 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.  Freshman Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ), the league's Rookie of the Week, scored 15 points with a season-best four 3-pointers for the Lightning (3-8, 2-3).

Goldey-Beacom hits the road Sunday to battle Wilmington (DE) as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's game starts at 3:00 pm, which follows the women's 1:00 pm contest.
