Men’s Basketball Handed 85-72 Loss by Dowling



Goldey-Beacom ran into a strong-shooting squad in the first half and was dealt an 85-72 loss by Dowling at the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament in Orangeburg, NY.
 
Dowling in the first half shot 45 percent (17-of-38) from the field and canned eight 3-pointers to open a 48-34 lead.  Vincent Abbandola scored 15 points in the half on 5-of-7 shooting, Ryan Hickey netted 11 and Chris Millender added 10 and seven rebounds.
 
Junior Shakeem Wilson (Brooklyn, NY) continued to impress for the Lightning (0-4), closing with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting to give him double figures in every game.  He is averaging 19.0 points per contest in the young season.
 
Freshman Corey Taite (Parlin, NJ) also scored 13 points to also give him double figures in each contest.  Senior Jarrel Lane (Rahway, NJ) netted 10 points and junior Elijah Tillman (Garnersville, NY) added 11 and 11 rebounds for his first GBC double-double.
 
Millender could not be stopped in the post, going off for 34 points on 14-of-17 shooting with 12 rebounds for the Golden Lions (2-2).  Abbandola canned five 3-pointers for 15 points, Hickey closed with 11 points and Evan Maxwell had 11 and 11 rebounds.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Monday faces Division I Morgan State in an exhibition game, starting at 7:00 pm in Baltimore, MD.
