Men’s Soccer Falls Victim to 6-2 Loss at Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom scored early, but then watched the spotlight turn on Michael Clarke from Georgian Court in the visitor's 6-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss in Lakewood, NJ.

Things looked promising for GBC early in the match, especially in the 14th minute when it grabbed a 1-0 lead.  Freshman Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) continued his strong play by placing a slow cross in the box to sophomore Fernando Sanchez (Madrid, Spain), who found the back of the net for his first of two goals on the day.

It was the team-leading fourth assist of the year for Aghrim, who has been tabbed to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll each of the last two weeks.

Clarke from that point made the rest of the match his personal showcase, getting a natural hat trick plus two more to give the Lions a 5-1 lead.  He got his first three within a 22-minute stretch in the first half for a 3-1 margin and then scored two more within a three-minute pace to end his run in the 64th minute.

Sanchez got his third of the season and 10th career, pouncing on a rebound in the 71st for his first multi-goal contest.  Emiliano Baquerizo found the back of the net for the Lions in the 82nd minute to close the scoring.

Sanchez attempted five shots and junior Rerom Delys (Vila Velha, Brazil) had three for the Lightning (3-7, 2-4 CACC).

Clarke took seven shots for the Lions (4-4-2, 3-2-2) and Aleksander Milosevic amassed seven saves.

Goldey-Beacom is back on the home pitch Thursday against West Chester, starting at 4:00 pm.
