Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Crammond’s Late Goal Gives Women’s Soccer 3-2 Win Over Pitt-Johnstown

Freshman Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) continued her torrid run by scoring in the 85th minute to give Goldey-Beacom a 3-2 victory over Pitt-Johnstown at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The back-and-forth affair in which neither team had more than a one-goal lead saw the pendulum swing the Lightning's way with 5:41 left.  Sophomore Amy Runciman (Luton, England) got the ball over to Crammond, who put a great shot inside the top-left corner for her sixth goal of the season.

All of Crammond's goals have come in the last eight contests.

It was Runciman's 10th assist of the year, just one behind the school's single-season record, and 16th career that is tied for third best in GBC annals.  Her 28 points this year are fourth best in team history and her 38 career puts her tied for ninth.

Runciman came into the match eighth in the country in assists and 39th in points.

The goal was even more shocking after Pitt-Johnstown leveled the match 43 seconds earlier.  Brittany Montano got the ball from Rachel Fleming and booted one in from 10 yards for a 2-2 contest.

Junior Becca Cordo (Roosevelt, NJ) opened the scoring by knocking in a 10-yard shot off a feed from senior Megan Harvis (Delran, NJ) for her seventh goal of the year.  Kaitlyn Eckley tied the match for the Lady Cats in the 31st minute with her third goal of the season.

Harvis gave GBC a 2-1 lead in the 59th minute by lofting a shot inside the top-right corner.  Her ninth goal of the year puts her in a tie for sixth place in school history, her eighth assists are tied for sixth and her 26 points are fifth.  Her 15th career goal is tied for ninth, her 16 assists are tied with Runciman and her 46 points are eighth.

Harvis entered 26th in the nation in assists and 67th in points.

GBC (8-9) owned a 17-8 shots edge that included 15-4 in the second half.  Harvis led the way with four shots and junior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) had two saves.

Eckley came off the bench with four shots and Leigh Appolonia made six saves for the Lady Cats (0-17-1).

Goldey-Beacom is the eighth seed for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament and will be on the road Tuesday at top-seeded Georgian Court.  Game time in Lakewood, NJ is 2:00 pm.
