Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls at No. 22 Wilmington (DE)

Goldey-Beacom made the short trip to face the 22nd-ranked team in the country and left on the wrong end of a 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference decision to Wilmington in Newark, DE.

A tired GBC group which last week played three extra-time matches found itself in a 3-0 hole within the first eight minutes.  Clifford Nwechefom scored the first and third goals for Wilmington sandwiched around Kristofer Michael's marker.  Geoff Velasquez and Lance Berry each got assists in that span.

The Wildcats made it 4-0 in the 22nd minute when Jamie Burridge found the back of the net off Berry's second assist of the half, one in which the home team grabbed a 12-3 shots edge.

Nwechefom completed the hat trick in the 58th minute with Juan Bernal getting the assist.

Sophomore Artur Zvinchuk (Bonn, Germany) attempted two shots and freshman Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) made two saves for the Lightning (5-11, 3-7 CACC).

Nwechefom took five shots and Vinny Tasca amassed four saves for the Wildcats (12-2, 9-1).

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Bloomfield as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's contest starts at 3:15 pm, which follows the women's 1:00 pm match.
