Men’s Basketball Dealt 97-77 Loss at Holy Family



Goldey-Beacom ran into a tough foe in regionally ranked Holy Family and was handed a 97-77 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback in Philadelphia, PA.
 
Holy Family entered the contest ranked fifth in the latest D2SIDA East Region Poll and showed why, turning a level game over the first 7 1/2 minutes into a 57-36 halftime lead.  Isaiah Gans netted 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting with four 3-pointers and Reggie Charles had 12 points and seven assists for the Tigers, who shot 67 percent (22-of-33) from the floor that included 10 three-pointers. 
 
Sophomore Sameen Swint (Sicklerville, NJ) provided a boost for the Lightning, scoring a season-best 24 points on 7-of-14 shooting with seven assists and a trio of 3-pointers.  Freshman Daniel Cooper (Homestead, FL) poured in a career-best 20 points and senior Chris Gebhart (Cherry Hill, NJ) added seven rebounds for the Lightning (4-10, 1-5 CACC).
 
Gans ended with 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting, six 3-pointers, seven rebounds and six blocks for the Tigers (11-4, 6-1).  Derrick Stewart had 12 points and 13 rebounds, Charles posted 16 points and nine assists with Hunter Wysocki scoring 12 points.
 
Goldey-Beacom's three-game road trip ends Saturday at Wilmington (DE) as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's contest in Newark, DE is at 3:00 pm, which follows the women's 1:00 pm game.
