First-Half Run Keys Women’s Basketball in 75-56 Triumph Over Felician

Senior Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill, NJ) scored 16 points in the first half and played a major role in a big spurt for Goldey-Beacom, which pulled away for a 75-56 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Felician at the Jones Center.

Chukwueze scored five points during a 19-2 run that spanned over six minutes, helping the Lightning take control for a 33-19 lead with 3:58 left in the first half.  Sophomore Jasmyne Lewis (Mount Holly, NJ), Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) and fellow freshman Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) all scored four points in the run.

Chukwueze's point total over the first 20 minutes came on 7-of-12 shooting and enabled GBC to gain a 40-30 halftime lead.  The Lightning shot 50 percent (17-of-34) from the field in that span with five 3-pointers and the Golden Falcons were held to just 40 percent (14-of-35).

Bruno ended with a season-high 22 points, marking the sixth time this season she has hit at least 20 points, and dished eight assists.  Chukwueze closed with 18 points and Bryson had nine and nine rebounds for the Lightning, who have won eight of their last 14 contests.

Ashley Morris had 17 points and nine rebounds, Shyla Osmond scored 17 points, Eliana Scanlon netted 13 and Treanda Foster hauled in 15 rebounds for the Golden Falcons (4-14, 3-8 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom (8-12, 7-4) now trails Philadelphia U. (7-2) by one game for third place in the CACC South Division and Holy Family (9-2) by two games for second.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Tuesday at Georgian Court as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  The women's game in Lakewood, NJ begins at 6:00 pm, followed by the men's 8:00 pm contest.
