PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior
Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) tied the Goldey-Beacom College career singles wins record to lead the Lightning (3-0, 1-0) to their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win of the season, an 8-1 victory over Holy Family University (1-3, 0-1) at the Holy Family Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.
Puentes Robinson, who claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number three singles, earned her 45th career singles win to match the school record set by
Melanie Bonomo from 2009-13. Puentes Robinson has a 45-15 career singles record, marking the fifth-highest singles win percentage in school history.
In addition, Puentes Robinson teamed up with sophomore
Maria Victoria (Totana, Spain) at number three doubles to post an 8-0 victory as Goldey-Beacom won two of three doubles matches before sweeping the singles matches. Victoria also posted a straight-set win at number two doubles.
Sophomore
Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) and sophomore
Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) also earned a pair of victories in the match.
