WILMINGTON, Del. - Playing its first match since Mar. 7 against Delaware State, the Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team showed no signs of rust as the Lightning posted a 9-0 non-conference victory over Shippensburg University (0-5) at the Delcastle Tennis Center on Monday afternoon.

The Lightning, who have not played since the 4-3 victory over the Hornets due to weather issues, won their second straight match and earned their sixth shutout of the season. Meanwhile, the Raiders suffered their fifth straight loss while playing in their first match since Mar. 15.

Goldey-Beacom earned straight set victories in five of the six singles matches, including three matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. In addition, the Lightning lost just three total games in their number one and number two doubles wins.

The Lightning also claimed a default victory at number six singles and number three doubles.

Goldey-Beacom will continue its four-match homestand on Tuesday, Apr. 1 by welcoming Philadelphia University to the Delcastle Tennis Center for a non-conference match at 4 p.m.
