BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Junior center
Tierra Scott (Appoquinimink H.S./Bear, Del.) scored 9 of her game-high 13 points in the second half as Bloomfield College (18-9) overcame a second-half deficit by Goldey-Beacom College (13-14) to earn a 61-52 victory in a quarterfinal game of the 2014 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Championship at Bloomfield Gym on Saturday afternoon.
The Deacons, who won for the eighth time in the last nine games, advance to the semifinals where they will play two-time defending CACC champion Holy Family. The game will be played on Friday, Mar. 7 at 7 p.m. at the George R. Newman Center on the campus of Caldwell College.
Meanwhile, the Lightning had a three-game win streak snapped in their final game of the season.
Led by Scott, the Deacons rallied from a 45-43 deficit in the final 8:33 to earn the victory. She scored six consecutive points during a 9-3 spurt that gave the Deacons a 54-48 lead they did not relinquish. The Lightning trimmed the margin to 54-52 before Bloomfield closed the game with a 7-0 run over the final 1:35 to seal the victory.
The Deacons sprinted out to a 19-9 lead in the opening 10 minutes of the first half. After Bloomfield extended its advantage to 26-12 with 7:14 remaining, the Lightning scored eight points in a row to narrow the gap to 26-20 on a lay-up by senior forward
Briana Richmond-Peters (Brimm Medical Arts H.S./Camden, N.J.) with 4:54 remaining.
Bloomfield scored 8 of the next 10 points to increase the margin to 34-22 wth 1:48 left before four straight points from junior guard
Shantia Creech (Hunt H.S./Philadelphia, Pa.) closed the Lightning's deficit to 34-26 at the intermission.
In leading the Deacons to the victory, Scott made 4 of 12 shots from the floor and converted five of six free throws. She also added a team-high nine rebounds, including five offensive rebounds. Meanwhile, freshman guard
Tianna Smith (Paramus Catholic H.S./Nanuet, N.Y.) contributed 12 points with seven rebounds and six assists.
Playing in the final game of her college career, Richmond-Peters tallied 10 points with a game-high 11 rebounds for her sixth "double double" of the season. Junior guard
Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill East H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.) added 13 points with six rebounds while Creech came off the bench to score 12 points.

• The Lightning made their fifth consecutive appearance in the CACC Tournament.
• Richmond-Peters posted a "double double" in each of her last four games.
• Chukwueze tallied 10 or more points in 19 of the Lightning's final 20 games.
• The lone senior on the 2013-14 team, Richmond-Peters finished her career with 547 rebounds, the eighth-highest total in school history.
• Richmond-Peters also played in the 108th game of her college career, which ranks ninth in school history.
