Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls Short in 75-68 Loss at Chestnut Hill

Senior Derrick Archie (Wilmington, DE) played great with a career-high 20 points, but it was not enough for Goldey-Beacom in a 75-68 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia.

The teams played a tight contest most of the way for the coveted fourth spot in the CACC South standings.  It was a 57-56 Chestnut Hill lead with 7:05 left before the home side scored 11 straight points to open a 68-56 lead with 2:50 remaining, thanks to five points from Billy Cassidy.

Archie had a dominating performance, besting his 19-point effort from last season against Felician.  He also grabbed 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, shot 7-of-8 from the floor and buried a pair of 3-pointers.

Senior Kyle Steinbergin (Englewood, NJ) canned five 3-pointers to match his season high and ended with 15 points, one off his best for the campaign.  Chris Gebhart (Cherry Hill, NJ), plagued by foul trouble, amassed 14 points and fellow senior Joey Getz (Philadelphia, PA) added 12 for the Lightning (3-8, 1-3 CACC).

Christian Walck was a force for the Griffins (3-6, 2-2) with 25 points and was 11-for-13 from the foul line.  Luke Dickson poured in 12 points and Seamus Radtke added 11 for Chestnut Hill, which shot 44 percent (24-of-54) from the field.

Goldey-Beacom is off for two weeks before it hosts Lock Haven on New Year's Eve, beginning at noon.
