Box Score Wilmington, Del.- The Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College (13-15, 6-12 CACC) defeated the Wilmington University Wildcats (16-13, 12-4 CACC) in four sets at the Joseph West Jones Arena on Thursday night. The set scores were 19-25, 26-24, 25-22, and 25-19.
This marks the first win over the Wildcats since November 1, 2006 when the Lightning defeated the Wildcats by a score of 3-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournament.
The Lightning used a total team effort in the four set win with four members recording double digit kills for the match.
Led by senior outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.), who tallied a game high 25 kill to go along with 14 digs, her team leading 10
th "double double" of the season. McCoy had a senior night to remember as she broke the Goldey-Beacom College single season kills record with her 412
th kill of the season. McCoy broke the record of 401 kills which was set by Ashley Carberry during the 2005 season.
Sophomore outside hitter
Grace McCarthy (Delaware Military Academy /Middletown, Del.) posted 15 kills in the win. Junior outside hitter
Innocent Early (Eastside H.S./Newark, N.J.) tallied 11 kills in the win. Senior outside hitter
Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkil Haven, Pa.), who was also honored this evening, posted 10 kills in the win.
The sure handed junior setter
Danielle Cipolletti (Scottsdale H.S./Scottsdale,Ariz.) racked up a game high 49 assists for the Lightning, tonight's assists move Cipolletti into sole possession of second place on the single season assists record in Goldey-Beacom history.
Junior libero
Mackenzie Wilson (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) tallied a career high with 29 digs.
Allison Briley lead the Wildcats in the loss, posting a team high 13 kills.
The Lightning will wrap up their 2014 CACC schedule when the travel to Philadelphia University on Tuesday, match time is set for 7:00 PM.
