Volleyball Overcomes First Set Deficit to Defeat USciences in Four Sets

McCoy and Cipolletti Each Post "Double Double" Efforts in Victory



WILMINGTON, Del.
– Senior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) and junior setter Danielle Cipolletti (Scottsdale H.S./Scottsdale, Ariz.) each recorded a "double double" as Goldey-Beacom College (8-8, 3-4) overcame a first set loss to earn a four-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the University of the Sciences (1-7, 0-5) at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Friday evening.

After losing the first set by a 25-17 margin, the Lightning responded by taking the next three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-19 to win the match.

McCoy posted her third "double double" of the season by recording a match-high 15 kills with 13 digs. Meanwhile, Cipolletti tallied a match-high 42 assists while contributing 13 digs en route to her fourth "double double" of the season.

Senior middle hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) posted a season-high 12 kills and a .417 hitting percentage while junior middle hitter Innocent Early (Eastside H.S./Newark, N.J.) added 13 kills with a .385 hitting percentage.

Junior outside hitter Desirae Lair (Las Vegas H.S./Las Vegas, Nev.) led the Devils in the loss with 15 kills and a .389 hitting percentage while adding seven digs. Junior middle hitter Caitlyn Crawford (Covington H.S./Covington, Ohio) added 11 kills with three blocks and three digs.

· The Lightning and the Devils met for the 36th time in a series that the University of the Sciences leads by a 20-16 margin … However, the Lightning ended a four-match losing streak against the Devils with Friday's victory.  
· The Devils and the Lightning will meet again next Friday night at Bobby Morgan Arena in Philadelphia.
· Senior defensive specialist Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) posted 10 or more digs for the 10th time this season after tallying 10 digs on Friday night … She increased her career total to 1,104 digs, the fifth-highest total in school history.
· McCoy posted her 10th 10-kill effort of the season on Tuesday … With 223 kills in 16 matches, she leads the CACC … In addition, McCoy upped her school-record career total to 1,195 kills.
· McCoy also moved into ninth place on the Lightning's career digs list after her 13-dig effort on Friday night … With 891 career digs, she passed Roni Shaner (2008-11) on the career list.
· Cipolletti had 42 assists against the University of the Sciences on Friday night, marking the 10th time this year she has posted 30 or more assists in a match … With 504 assists in 16 matches, Cipolletti leads the CACC and ranks third in the CACC by averaging 8.69 assists per set.
· Cipolletti also posted 40 or more assists for the third time this year … She had 46 assists against Shippensburg on Sept. 5 before a 50-assist effort against Saint Anselm on Sept. 13.
· The Lightning posted six service aces against the Devils, upping their CACC-leading total to 112 aces in 16 matches.
· With 15 kills against Goldey-Beacom on Friday night, Lair reached the 500-kill plateau for her career … She now has 504 career kills.   
· Sophomore defensive specialist Christine Irrera (Spring-Ford H.S./Royersford, Pa.) posted a match-high 21 digs for the Devils, marking her third 20-dig effort of the season.
