Women's Volleyball Loses 4 Set Decision to Post University

Wilmington, Del.- The Goldey-Beacom Lightning (11-14, 5-10 CACC) women's volleyball suffered a four set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup to the Post University Eagles (14-9, 8-4 CACC) on Friday night at the Jones center. The scores for the match were 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, and 25-16.

The Lightning jumped out to 14-3 lead in the first set on the strength of 4 kills by senior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./ Dallastown, Pa.). The Lightning won the first set 25-23 while only posting two attack errors. McCoy tallied seven total kills in the first set with no attack errors in 10 attempts for a.700 hitting percentage.

The Lightning were unable to fend off the Eagles offense over the next three sets. The Eagles were led by senior outside hitter Emily Wilman (Union Catholic H.S./Perth Amboy, N.J.) who tallied a "double double" posting a game high 18 kills to go along with 16 digs. Other Eagle standouts were Skyler German (University of Central Missouri /Kansas City, Mo.) who notched 15 kills with 18 digs, and Julia Slyaktina (School #739/Moscow, Russia) who posted a game high 44 assists.

McCoy finished the match with a team high 14 kills to go along with a team high of 17 digs. McCoy who leads the CACC with 355 kills on the year also posted her 7th "double double" of the season.

Junior setter Danielle Cipolletti (Scottsdale H.S./Scottsdale, Ariz.) led the lightning with 35 assists. With 785 assists this season Cipolletti ranks third in the CACC.

The Lightning will look to break a three match losing streak tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Concordia College for CACC match starting at 1:00 PM.
