WILMINGTON, Del. – Opening a tough stretch of three matches in four days, the Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team (6-0, 3-0) continued its winning streak by posting a 7-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Chestnut Hill College (4-2, 4-1) at the Delcastle Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
The win allowed the Lightning to begin the season with a 6-0 record for the first time since the 2010-11 season when they started the year with a school-record eight-match win streak.
Sophomore
Maria Victoria (Totana, Spain) was one of three Goldey-Beacom players to record a pair of victories against Chestnut Hill. After she teamed up with senior
Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) for an 8-6 victory at number two doubles, she posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at number two singles.
Meanwhile, Puentes Robinson earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number three singles over senior
Morgan Oechsle (Southern Lehigh H.S./Coopersburg, Pa.).
Sophomore
Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) also posted a pair of wins, earning an 8-3 decision at number three doubles with senior
Anastasia Melnikova (Vladivostok, Russia) before a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number six singles.
Senior
Charlotte Dawson (Odessa, Texas) earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory at number one singles for Chestnut Hill after pairing with Oechsle for an 8-2 decision at number one doubles.
