WILMINGTON, Del. - Junior guard
Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill East H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored a team-high 17 points, including a 10-for-13 effort from the free throw line, as Goldey-Beacom College (7-8, 4-4) ended a three-game losing skid by earning a 64-52 victory over Wilmington University (4-10, 1-6) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Saturday afternoon.
The win allowed the Lightning to earn their first victory since a 58-52 overtime triumph against Chestnut Hill on Dec. 18. In addition, Goldey-Beacom extended its win streak over its local rival to nine straight games.
After the Wildcats took a quick 2-0 lead on a lay-up by junior guard
Cari Callaway (Christiana H.S./Newark, Del.), the Lightning scored the next 12 points to take a commanding 12-2 lead with 14:17 remaining in the first half. Chukwueze tallied six points during the run while senior forward
Briana Richmond-Peters (Brimm Medical Arts H.S./Camden, N.J.) added four points.
The Wildcats trimmed the margin to 14-8 before the Lightning scored 12 of the next 15 points to increase their advantage to 26-11 with 6:27 left on a pair of free throws by junior guard

Wilmington cut the deficit to 30-26 with 57 seconds left in the first half before a lay-up by freshman guard
Jasmyne Lewis (Rancocas Valley H.S./Mount Holly, N.J.) gave Goldey-Beacom a 32-26 edge at the intermission.
After the Lightning expanded their lead to 38-30 with 16:53 left in the second half, the Wildcats scored 10 of the next 14 points, including a pair of three-point field goals from sophomore guard
Tenicia Spence (Western H.S./Baltimore, Md.), to close the gap to 42-40 with 13:54 left in regulation.
But, the Lightning answered by going on a 12-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 54-42 lead with 8:27 left. From there, the Lightning held Wilmington to just 10 points in the final eight minutes to seal the victory.
Chukwueze was one of three Lightning players to score in double figures as Lewis and junior guard
Shantia Creech (Hunt H.S./Philadelphia, Pa.) each contributed 10 points. Meanwhile, Richmond-Peters added nine points while grabbing a season-high 15 rebounds.
Spence led the Wildcats in the loss by scoring a game-high 25 points, marking her fifth straight game with 20 or more points. She made 9 of 21 shots from the floor, including a 5-for-9 effort from three-point range.
The Lightning, who finished a three-game homestand with the victory over the Wildcats, will visit Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in a CACC South Division game at 6 p.m.
