WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior defender
Bakary Coulibaly (La Lumiere H.S./Hyattsville, Md.) scored two goals in the second half as the University of the District of Columbia (2-0-0) earned its second straight win, a 5-0 non-conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (0-2-0) at the UDC Athletic Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Firebirds, who have outscored their opponents by a 9-1 margin in the first two matches, erupted for four goals in the second half en route to the win.
Sophomore midfielder
Elio Hernandez (Northwest H.S./Germantown, Md.) gave UDC a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when he scored his second goal of the season off assists from senior midfielder
Roque Hernandez (Northwest H.S./Germantown, Md.) and freshman forward
Felix Angerer (Bayreuth, Germany).
Just over 13 minutes into the second half, the Firebirds upped their advantage to 2-0 when freshman forward
Adam Spinks (Birmingham, England) converted passes from Roque Hernandez and freshman midfielder
Nenad Smilijanic (Barnsley, England) for his first goal of the season.
Coulibaly extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 70th minute when scored into an open goal after a pass from sophomore goalkeeper
Louis Connor (Birmingham, England). He added a second goal less than three minutes later when he headed in a corner kick by Elio Hernandez.

Moussa Traore (John F. Kennedy H.S./Silver Spring, Md.) added an insurance goal when he converted a penalty kick past senior goalkeeper
Carlos Meinhard (Caracas, Venezuela).
While Coulibaly tallied the first two goals of his college career, Elio Hernandez added a goal and an assist for the Firebirds, who outshot the Lightning by a 27-6 margin.

Ever Alvarez (Woodbridge H.S./Woodbridge, Va.) combined to earn the shutout while making just one save. Meanwhile, Meinhard posted nine saves in a losing effort for the Lightning, who have been outscored by 7-1 in their first two matches.
The Lightning will continue their season-opening five-match road trip on Tuesday evening when they travel to Lock Haven for a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
