BOWIE, Md. – Junior outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) posted a match-high 17 kills with a .342 hitting percentage as Goldey-Beacom College (4-6) returned from a nine-day break to earn a four-set victory over Bowie State University (1-11) in a non-conference match at A.C. Jordan Arena on Thursday evening.
The Lightning, who have won three of their last four matches, claimed the victory by set scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-19 and 25-16. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs suffered their seventh loss in a row.
In addition to her 17 kills, McCoy also contributed a season-high 21 digs with three service aces.
Meanwhile, junior outside hitter
Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) added 10 kills with 3 digs while senior opposite
Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) tallied a "double double" with a match-high 36 assists with 10 digs.
Junior right side hitter
Daphne Bistrimovich (Freehold H.S./Freehold, N.J.) aided the Lightning's defensive effort by collecting a career-high 15 digs.
The Bulldogs were led by freshman outside hitter
India Mason (Eleanor Roosvelt H.S./Greenbelt, Md.), who posted 10 kills with four blocks. Sophomore libero
Marissa Martinez (Valley H.S./Albuquerque, N.M.) added 20 digs in a losing effort.
The Lightning will return to their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they visit Caldwell College for a 1 p.m. match.
