WILMINGTON, Del. – Senior forward Joe Baccielo (Platt Tech/Stratford, Conn.) scored two goals as Post University (4-1-0, 2-1-0) posted its fourth shutout of the season with a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (0-6-0, 0-3-0) in the Lightning's home opener at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles, who are ranked fourth in the latest NSCAA Division II East Region Coaches Poll, erupted for a season-high three goals en route to the victory. It also marked the first time this season the Eagles have not played in a match decided by one goal.

Baccielo gave the Eagles a very quick 1-0 lead when he converted a pass from junior forward Terrell Whitting (Avon Old Farms H.S./Naugatuck, Conn.) in the fifth minute.

With 19:58 left in the first half, sophomore forward Raphael Moura (Danbury H.S./Danbury, Conn.) upped the Eagles' advantage to 2-0 when he headed in a crossing pass from freshman midfielder Armando Filho (Cataguases, Brazil) for his team-leading third goal of the year.

In the 55th minute, the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick after Baccielo was fouled by a Goldey-Beacom defender in the penalty area. He converted the kick to extend the Eagles' edge to 3-0.

Led by senior goalkeeper Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica), the Eagles' defense limited the Lightning to just six shots en route to the win. Lindsay, who earned his fourth shutout of the season, made four saves for the Eagles.

Senior goalkeeper Carlos Meinhard (Caracas, Venezuela) made nine saves in a losing effort for the Lightning, who suffered their third consecutive shutout loss.

The Lightning, who played their first five matches on the road before Saturday, will continue a three-match homestand on Thursday, Sept. 26 by hosting the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown in a non-conference match at 4 p.m. Meanwhile, the Eagles will visit Dominican College on Tuesday, Sept. 24 for a CACC match at 3:30 p.m.
