Men's Soccer Continues Road Swing at Caldwell

Lightning Looking for First Win of Season

Coach Ryan Dixon and the Lightning will visit Caldwell on Saturday afternoon.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Looking to earn its first win of the season, the Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer team will continue its season-opening five-match road trip on Saturday afternoon by visiting Caldwell College in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener for both teams.

Opening kick-off between the Lightning and the Cougars is slated for 2 p.m. and live stats will be available by clicking here.

Now 0-3-0 on the season, the Lightning will be looking to rebound from a tough 4-2 loss at Lock Haven on Tuesday evening. Sophomore defender Daniel Bennett (Arthur P. Schalick H.S./Pittsgrove, N.J.) scored the first goal of his college career in the 45th minute, but the Eagles' offense scored twice in the second half to secure the victory.

Bennett and senior midfielder Andre Jank (Campo Grande, Brazil) have accounted for two of the Lightning's three goals this season. Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper Carlos Meinhard (Caracas, Venezuela) has started all three matches for the Lightning and has a .676 save percentage while allowing 3.67 goals per outing.

Currently 1-1-0 on the season, the Cougars will be looking to win back-to-back matches after a 3-2 overtime victory against West Chester on Monday afternoon. Freshman forward Haakon Sulheim (Lillehammer, Norway) scored the winning goal in the third minute of overtime as the Cougars overcame a late surge by the Rams to earn the win.

Sulheim is the Cougars' leading scorer with two goals while sophomore Andrews Barros (San Paolo, Brazil) and freshman Noah Pederson (Archbishop Mitty H.S./San Jose, Calif.) have each contributed a goal in the first two matches this year. Meanwhile, sophomore goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Shawnee H.S./Medford, N.J.) has posted a 1.92 goals against average with a .789 save percentage.

After Saturday's match, the Lightning will finish their road trip by traveling to Philadelphia University on Wednesday, Sept. 18 for a 4:30 p.m. match against the Rams.
