SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Led by a complete team effort, the Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team (13-4) tied a school record by earning its 13th win of the season as the Lightning posted a 9-0 victory over Shippensburg University (0-7) at the Robb Sports Complex on Friday afternoon.

The Lightning, who won their second straight match, lost only two total games en route to their eighth shutout victory of the year. With 13 wins, the Lightning have matched the school record by the 2009-10 team that posted a 13-2 record.

Sophomore Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) earned her 9th singles win in the last 10 matches by posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number one singles after teaming up with junior Gabriela Chaves (Joao Pessoa - PB, Brazil) for an 8-0 decision at number two doubles.

Meanwhile, junior Rocio Cabanillas Moreno (Sevilla, Spain) had a pair of wins against the Raiders on Friday, claiming a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number two singles along with an 8-0 triumph with senior Vanessa Leon (Caracas, Venezuela) at number three doubles. Leon also had a 6-1, 6-0 win at number four singles, marking her second straight singles victory.

Sophomore Filipa Correia (Lisboa, Portugal) also won two matches against Shippensburg, posting a 6-0, 6-0 decision at number three singles in addition to an 8-1 win with sophomore Anastasia Melnikova (Vladivostok, Russia) in number one doubles. Melnikova recorded a straight-set victory (6-0, 6-0) at number six singles in addition to her doubles win.

Senior Melanie Bonomo (Maracay, Venezuela) completed the sweep by recording her 44th career singles victory, a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five singles.

The Lightning will continue their three-match road trip on Tuesday afternoon by traveling to Adelphi University.
