Lightning End Four-Match Losing Skid With Three-Set Victory

WILMINGTON, Del. – Junior outside hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) tallied a match-high 10 kills with a .625 hitting percentage as Goldey-Beacom College (6-21) snapped a four-match losing streak with a three-set victory over Lincoln University (3-16) in a non-conference match at the Lightning's Joseph West Jones college Center on Tuesday evening.

The Lightning, who earned their first win since a four-set decision over Bowie State on Oct. 24, claimed the triumph by set scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-12.

Led by Moyer, the Lightning hit .337 as a team with just seven attack errors. She tallied her 10 kills on just 16 attack attempts without recording an attack error. In addition, she contributed a pair of blocks.

Meanwhile, junior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) posted her team-leading 12th "double double" of the season after a 10-kill, 12-assist performance.

Freshman setter Kim Matlock (Jackson Memorial H.S./Jackson, N.J.) added six service aces along with five digs and two kills in the victory while senior opposite Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) tallied a match-high 21 assists with four digs and four kills.

The Lions, who lost for the seventh time in the last eight matches, were led by freshman setter Shanna King (Newark, N.J.). She tallied 13 assists with five digs and four kills.

The Lightning will continue their season-ending three-match homestand on Wednesday, Nov. 6 when they host Philadelphia University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match at 7 p.m.
