LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Just three days after matching his career high with 18 points against Millersville, junior guard Kyle Steinbergin (Teaneck H.S./Englewood, N.J.) decided to top that mark by erupting for 26 points as Goldey-Beacom College (3-3, 1-1) earned its second win in a row, an 85-73 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Georgian Court University (2-4, 0-2) at the GCU Wellness Center on Tuesday evening.

It was the first meeting between the two teams in men's basketball as Georgian Court is in its inaugural season.

The Lions overcame an early deficit in the first two minutes of the game by going on a 7-0 run to take a 12-5 lead with 14:50 remaining on a pair of free throws from freshman forward Jonte Rutty (Putnam Science Academy/Newburgh, N.Y.).

After Georgian Court built its advantage to 25-19 with 8:43 remaining, the Lightning scored 11 of the next 15 points to regain a one-point edge on a Steinbergin three-point field goal with 5:21 left. But, the Lions answered and scored 10 of the final 16 points for a 39-36 lead at the intermission.

The Lions upped their advantage to 43-38 in the opening two minutes of the second half before the Lightning answered with a 15-4 run, including six points from freshman guard Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (Hodgson Vo-Tech H.S./New Castle, Del.), to reclaim a 53-47 lead with 12:34 remaining.

From there, the Lightning held onto the lead and never trailied by fewer than three points en route to the victory.

Steinbergin, who played all 40 minutes in the game, made 7 of 16 shots from the floor, including a 7-for-12 effort from three-point range. He also converted five of six free throws and tallied a career-high four assists with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Ridgeway-Higgs added a season-high 13 points with three assists. He made five of eight field goal attempts, including three of four tries from beyond the arc, while contributing three assists.

Junior guard Jarrel Lane (St. Patrick H.S./Rahway, N.J.) added 11 points with a season-high seven assists and three steals while junior forward Will Williams (Keystone National H.S./Flushing, N.Y.) scored 11 points with seven rebounds.

Freshman forward Keith Hughes (Robinson School/Woodbridge, N.J.) led Georgian Court by posting a "double double" with 26 points and a game-high 14 rebounds while junior forward Jordan Wejnert (Point Pleasant, N.J.) added 13 points with nine rebounds.

The Lightning will be idle until Saturday, Dec. 7 when they host Concordia in a CACC contest at 3 p.m.
