WILMINGTON, Del. - Playing its final match prior to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship, the Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team earned its second straight win with an 8-1 victory over the University of the Sciences at the Delcastle Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lightning, who improved to 7-2 overall and 6-2 in the CACC, secured the third seed in the four-team field with the victory and will face Concordia in the semifinals on Oct. 19. Meanwhile, the Devils dropped their second straight match.
En route to the victory, the Lightning won five of six singles matches against the Devils by a 6-0, 6-0 score. In addition, they claimed all three doubles matches, including a pair of 8-0 triumphs at number two and number three doubles, respectively.
