BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Ovan Oakley (Kingston, Jamaica) scored a season-high three goals and added an assist as Concordia College (7-6-1, 6-5-1) erupted for a season-high five goals en route to its third win in the last four matches, a 5-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (2-14-1, 1-9-1) at the Holtdorf Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon.

Playing in their final home game of the regular season, the Clippers moved into a tie for fourth place in the CACC standings with Wilmington with the victory and improved their chances of hosting a CACC quarterfinal game on Nov. 5. The Wildcats played at Nyack on Saturday afternoon.

The Clippers took a very early lead in the first minute when sophomore forward Ovan Oakley (Kingston, Jamaica) scored his eighth goal of the season after converting a pass from senior midfielder Victor Ruiz (Gijon, Spain).

With 17:24 remaining in the first half, Oakley upped the Concordia edge to 2-0 when he scored off assists from Ruiz and senior forward Ekene Okereke (Bielefeld, Germany).

But, the Lightning trimmed the margin to 2-1 in the 43rd minute when senior midfielder Andre Jank (Campo Grande, Brazil) scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season off an assist from sophomore forward Ernest Ackah (Smyrna H.S./Smyrna, Del.).

Just over six minutes into the second half, junior Ishmeal Yemoh (Westminster Christian H.S./Mount Vernon, N.Y.) extended the Clippers' advantage to 3-1 when he took passes from Okereke and Oakley and scored his second goal of the season.

Oakley added an insurance goal in the 56th minute with his third goal of the match before junior midfielder Jesus Alvarez-Riesco (La Coruna, Spain) tallied his first goal of the season in the 64th minute to give Concordia a commanding 5-1 lead.

Graduate student forward Kyle Lawrence (Smyrna H.S./Smyrna, Del.) narrowed the gap to 5-2 in the 75th minute when he tallied his second goal of the season off an assist from freshman forward Olof Tapper (Linkoping, Sweden).

While Oakley led the Clippers with his seven-point performance, Ruiz contributed three assists for the Clippers, who outshot the Lightning by a 23-9 margin.

Senior goalkeeper Carlos Meinhard (Caracas, Venezuela) made four saves in the loss for Goldey-Beacom, which has dropped seven straight matches.

The Lightning will finish their season on Wednesday, Oct. 30 by hosting Holy Family University in a CACC contest at 4 p.m. Meanwhile, the Clippers will travel to St. Thomas Aquinas on Monday afternoon for a non-conference match.
