Volleyball Ends Losing Skid With Four-Set Win Over Bowie State

McCoy and Moyer Combine for 25 Kills to Lead Lightning

WILMINGTON, Del. – Junior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) recorded a match-high 13 kills and contributed 19 assists as Goldey-Beacom College (5-22) ended an 11-match losing streak with a four-set victory over Bowie State University (2-23) in a non-conference match at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Thursday evening.

The Lightning, who earned their first victory since a four-set decision over the Bulldogs on Sept. 26, claimed the match by set scores of 25-11, 25-14, 22-25 and 25-17.

McCoy, who tallied her ninth "double double" of the season, posted 10 or more kills for the fifth straight match. In addition, she added nine digs and matched a career high with six service aces.

Junior outside hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) added 12 kills and four blocks while hitting .474 in the victory. She posted just three attack errors in 19 attempts.

Junior defensive specialist Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) led the Lightning's defensive effort by recording a career-high 29 digs along with five assists. Meanwhile, senior opposite Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) posted a match-high 25 assists with six kills and two blocks.

Senior middle hitter Brelyn Finley (Charles H. Flowers H.S./District Heights, Md.) led the Bulldogs in the loss with a team-high 10 kills. She also hit .529 in the match while contributing six blocks.

The Lightning will finish their four-match homestand on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they resume their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule against Concordia College at 12 p.m.
