NYACK, N.Y. - Sophpmore middle blocker
Samantha Garza (North Branch, Mich.) recorded a match-high 12 kills with a .455 hitting percentage as Nyack College (11-11, 5-2) earned its fifth win in a row, a three-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (4-13, 0-9) at the Warriors' Bowman Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors earned the victory by set scores of 25-9, 25-21 and 25-12.
Garza, who tallied just two attack errors in 22 attempts, was the lone player in the match with 10 or more kills. Senior outside hitter
Deborah Schendel (Great Falls, Mont.) added nine kills and 12 digs while graduate student libero
Michelle Makela (Cocoa, Fla.) posted 13 digs.
Senior setter
Brianna Kane (Bethany, Conn.) tallied 25 assists while contributing six kills and a .600 hitting percentage.
Senior opposite
Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) led the Lightning in the loss with 12 assists and six digs while junior defensive specialist
Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) had a match-high 14 digs.
The Lightning, who have lost seven matches in a row, will return home on Tuesday, Oct. 15 to face local rival Wilmington at the Joseph West Jones College Center at 7 p.m.
