McCoy Leads Volleyball Past Bowie State in Four Sets

Sophomore Records 19 Kills with 11 Digs

WILMINGTON, Del. - Led by sophomore outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.), the Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team earned its third win in the last four matches, a four-set victory over Bowie State University (0-5) at the Lightning's Jones Center on Saturday evening.

The Lightning, who dropped a three-set match against UMass-Lowell earlier on Saturday, overcame a first-set deficit to defeat the Lady Bulldogs by scores of 23-25, 25-7, 25-12 and 25-21.

McCoy tallied a match-high 19 kills and contributed 11 digs for her first "double double" of the season while sophomore outside hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) contributed 18 kills with a .485 hitting percentage.

Senior setter Monica Dempsey (Secaucus H.S./Secaucus, N.J.) tallied 26 assists along with six digs and three kills while freshman setter Jamika Townsend (King's Fork H.S./Suffolk, Va.) posted 17 assists with nine digs and five kills.

Sophomore defensive specialist Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) had a season-high 16 digs while senior middle hitter Catherine Howard (William Penn H.S./New Castle, Del.) tallied seven blocks, including five solo blocks.

The Lady Bulldogs, who also lost to UMass-Lowell earlier on Saturday in a three-set match, were led by freshman outside hitter Yaje Ngundam (Bowie H.S./Bowie, Md.), who posted 14 kills with eight digs.

The Lightning will finish their quick three-match homestand on Tuesday night when they host Georgian Court in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener. First serve at the Jones Center is set for 7 p.m.
