Stephanie Kline and the Lightning will open their home schedule on Saturday afternoon.

WILMINGTON, Del.
- After winning two of three matches at the "Battle in the Nation's Capital" tournament last weekend, the Lightning volleyball team will return to the Jones Center on Saturday afternoon to open their home schedule against UMass-Lowell and Bowie State. The Lightning will face the Riverhawks at 12 p.m. before playing against the Lady Bulldogs at 4 p.m.

In addition, the Lady Bulldogs and the Riverhawks will play in a neutral-site match at 4 p.m.

Now 2-1 on the season, the Lightning overcame a four-set loss against Elizabeth City State in their season opener to earn a pair of victories on Saturday. After a four-set victory over Bowie State, the Lightning rallied for a five-set win over Virginia State.

Sophomore outside hitter Kadi McCoy was named as an honorable mention selection for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly awards on Wednesday afternoon after leading Goldey-Beacom last weekend. She recorded 36 kills and contributed 32 digs in the three matches for the Lightning, including a career-high 21 kills and added nine digs with six service aces against Virginia State on Saturday.

An honorable mention All-CACC performer last year, McCoy is tied for seventh in the CACC with 36 kills while her eight service aces are tied for third place in the conference.

UMass-Lowell opened its season with a tough five-set loss against Merrimack College on Tuesday evening and will visit Georgian Court on Friday evening. Sophomore Ella Merrill had a career-high 18 kills in the loss for the Riverhawks while junior Olivia Parkins contributed a career-high 39 assists. Merrill also added eight digs and four service aces.

Meanwhile, Bowie State enters today's matches looking for its first win of the season after dropping three matches at the "Battle in the Nation's Capital" tournament last weekend. The Lady Bulldogs return two starters from last year's team and postd a 9-23 record last year for Coach Yvette Thomasson, who is in her fourth season as the Lady Bulldogs' leader.

The Lightning will finish their quick three-match homestand on Tuesday evening when they face Georgian Court in Goldey-Beacom's CACC opener at 7 p.m.
