Women's Cross Country Earns 14th Place at Philadelphia Metro Classic

Elizabeth Williams Leads Lightning with 51st Place

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Led by senior Elizabeth Williams (A.I. duPont H.S./Wilmington, Del.), the Goldey-Beacom College women's cross country team finished in 14th place at the Philadelphia Metro Cross Country Championships at the Belmont Plateau on Saturday afternoon.

Williams, who turned in a time of 24:59, finished in 51st place as the Lightning scored 348 points in the meet. Philadelphia University earned the team title by scoring 55 points while Nyack College finished in second place with a score of 80 points. Georgian Court University earned third place with a team score of 88 points.

Senior Felicia Justice (Clearfield H.S./West Point, Utah), the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week, earned 64th place after finishing the race in 26:00 while freshman Sarah Grzybowski (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) followed in 71st place with a time of 26:43.

Freshman Valarie Orth (Schalick H.S./Pittsgrove, N.J.) turned in a time of 27:25 to earn 79th place while senior Alyssa Murray (Hodgson Vo-Tech H.S./Townsend, Del.) completed the race in 28:31, which was good for 83rd place.

Freshman Samia Blassengale (Delcastle H.S./Newark, Del.) and junior Tigan Frisby (Mount Pleasant H.S./Claymont, Del.) finished in 84th and 88th places, respectively.

The Lightning will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Don Cathcart Invitational at 9:45 a.m.
